Gabriel Sans Font Family – 24 Styles + 2 Variable Fonts
Originally released by Fontfabric on January 21, 2011, Gabriel Sans was designed by Svetoslav Simov as a versatile sans serif with a distinctive geometric character. It grew out of a search for a sans that felt geometric but not cold - something with the structure of a Swiss type or a grotesque, but with more warmth built into the details.
Now, more than a decade after its original release, Gabriel Sans returns with a comprehensive update. The family has been expanded with Extended Latin and Extended Cyrillic support, refined at the level of its letterforms and spacing, and reworked into a more flexible typographic system built for contemporary design.
The Team Behind the Update
The Gabriel Sans update was developed by Kaloyan Kamenopolski and Ivelina Martinova, under the close supervision of Svetoslav Simov and Viktoria Usmanova.
For Kaloyan, the project marks his first typeface release with Fontfabric. Production was led by Stefan Yatanski.
The process was dynamic and full of challenges, with every stage bringing new details to refine. Expanding the character set, reworking individual forms, and developing the variable fonts all came together as a collaborative effort across the team.
The result is a renewed Gabriel Sans that keeps the character of the original while giving it a broader language range, cleaner typography, and much more flexibility for contemporary design.
Why Choose Gabriel Sans?
Gabriel Sans brings together clarity, character, and flexibility in a single type family. Its balanced proportions and refined forms make it equally comfortable in text and display settings, while its expanded character set makes it ready for multilingual projects.
The 2026 update introduces 24 static styles and 2 variable fonts, giving designers more control over weight and width. The new variable fonts combine the Normal and Condensed ranges in one flexible format, allowing width and weight to be adjusted smoothly without switching between separate font files.
With support for more than 130 languages, an expanded set of figures, symbols, currencies, and OpenType features, Gabriel Sans is designed to move easily between branding, editorial design, digital products, advertising, packaging, signage, and beyond.

A More Flexible Variable System
The biggest addition to the family is its new variable font system.
Gabriel Sans Roman Variable and Gabriel Sans Italic Variable bring the Normal and Condensed styles together in a single flexible font. Designers can adjust both weight and width, moving smoothly between the family’s extremes instead of relying on separate static styles.
The same flexibility is available in both Roman and Italic, making the variable fonts particularly useful for responsive typography, digital interfaces, editorial systems, branding, and layouts that need typography to adapt seamlessly.
