FAQs
What are trial fonts?
Trial fonts are free versions of a typeface for testing in your own designs before you buy. They’re for evaluation, so you can see how the font works in your layouts, not for finished projects.
Are trial fonts free?
Trial fonts are free to download and you can use them for internal testing. Trial fonts can not be used for commercial purposes or personal gain.
Are free fonts always safe to use?
The short answer is no. Free can mean free for personal use only, free with restrictions, or a trial/demo version. Always check the license terms, many free fonts are not allowed for commercial use.
Can I use trial fonts in client or commercial work?
No. Trial fonts are for personal testing and mockups only. Using them in published or paid work requires a full license.
What’s the difference between the trial and the full, paid version?
Trial versions usually have a limited character set, and sometimes fewer weights or no OpenType features.
How do I upgrade from a trial to a full license?
Buy the license for the font, then replace the trial files with the full ones. You can manually change them in your designs – this can not happen automatically, as trial fonts contain the word trial in their name.
Can I share trial fonts with my team or clients?
No, you can’t. Each person needs to download the trial themselves, and anyone using the font commercially needs the proper license.
Is there a trial font available for each Fontfabric font?
Yes, there is – you can find the download button in each font page on our website.
