Extrusion Depth Axis (EDPT)

Utilized within specific variable typefaces, the Extrusion Depth axis enables designers to regulate the perceived thickness or dimensional weight of three-dimensional characters. The scale for this setting operates in increments representing one-thousandth of an em, meaning it scales dynamically alongside the selected text size.

The EDPT extrusion depth axis in Mont: the word EDPT set three times, flat at the top and then with a pink extruded shadow pushing further back from the letterforms at each step.

Utilized within specific variable typefaces, the Extrusion Depth axis (identified by the CSS tag EDPT) enables designers to regulate the perceived thickness or dimensional weight of three-dimensional characters. The scale for this setting operates in increments representing one-thousandth of an em, meaning it scales dynamically alongside the selected text size. For instance, assigning a value of 500 translates to a dimensional projection equal to half of the total em square, which calculates to a twenty-pixel depth when applied to text configured at forty pixels.
