Lockup

A lockup denotes the permanent, unalterable positioning of multiple distinct design components relative to one another, most commonly exemplified by pairing a graphic brand mark alongside its written nameplate.

The Airbnb logo in coral pink with its two parts bracketed and labelled: the looping symbol on the left marked “Brandmark”, the word “airbnb” on the right marked “Wordmark”, and a wider bracket beneath the pair marked “Logo lockup” — a lockup fixes symbol and name in one arrangement that is always reproduced together.

A lockup denotes the permanent, unalterable positioning of multiple distinct design components relative to one another, most commonly exemplified by pairing a graphic brand mark alongside its written nameplate.

This structural composition can also be crafted exclusively from typographic elements. For example, a text-based brand mark that spans two stacked lines relies on a precise configuration where the exact character sizing, the vertical row spacing, and the spatial arrangement of the text together form a unified lockup.
