Type Designer

A type designer is a creative professional who conceives, draws, and builds original typefaces from scratch. This role is distinct from a typographer, who works as a layout artist arranging and composing existing fonts within a design.

A type designer is a creative professional who conceives, draws, and constructs original font families from scratch. This specialized role must be distinguished from that of a typographer, who instead acts as a layout artist by arranging and composing pre-existing fonts within a design. These creators often sell their digital font files through commercial entities known as type foundries, which can range from large corporate operations down to independent micro-businesses managed entirely by a solitary designer.
