Softness axis (SOFT)

“Softness” is an axis found in some variable fonts. At the end of this axis, letterforms become more soft and rounded.

The letters “no” set three times in heavy blue Gismo — fully rectangular with a square counter, then semi-round, then fully round with a circular counter — underlined by two grey bars and then a pink one, and captioned “RECTANGULAR → SEMIROUND → ROUND”: a softness axis rounding off every corner.

“Softness” (SOFT in CSS) is an axis found in some variable fonts. At the end of this axis, letterforms become more soft and rounded.

In line with the current CSS spec, the four-character code for this axis should be referenced in UPPERCASE (as only the five axes registered in the OpenType format specification should appear in lowercase).
