Born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ani developed a passion for art and visual communication from an early age. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Book and Print Graphics from the National Academy of Art in Sofia, where she first immersed herself in the craft of letters and type design. Her curiosity about letterform history and structure led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Typeface Design, solidifying her expertise and love for typography.
Currently, Ani is pursuing a PhD at the Varna Free University’s Faculty of Architecture, focusing on the relationship between typography, urban space, and contemporary design.
Career Path
Ani’s professional journey in design began at Fontfabric, where she joined the team immediately after completing her Master’s degree in 2014. This was her first exposure to large-scale type projects and the process of transforming design into a product seen and used by a wide audience.
Early in her career, Ani contributed to the creation of a custom typeface for Telenor, a project that left a lasting impression on her. Seeing the typeface come to life across storefronts, signage, and corporate branding confirmed her passion for typography and design.
Over the years, Ani has advanced to Senior Typeface Designer, playing a key role in both original typeface families and custom corporate projects for global clients. Her focus lies in balancing aesthetic expression and technical precision, crafting typefaces that are visually striking while performing seamlessly across mediums.
