Monolinear

When the stroke forming a character maintains a uniform thickness throughout its entire shape with minimal to no variation in width, the typeface is classified as monolinear.

A large blue letter “O” set in Noah with two short pink bars laid across its stroke, one at the top of the curve and one at the left side, showing the two measurements to be the same — demonstrating a monolinear design, where the stroke keeps one constant width all the way round with no thick-and-thin contrast.

When the stroke forming a character maintains a uniform thickness throughout its entire shape with minimal to no variation in width, the typeface is classified as monolinear. As a general rule, sans serif and blocky slab serif designs exhibit far less contrast between their thick and thin sections compared to traditional serif typefaces.

Well-known illustrations of this uniform stroke style include the font families Fabric Grotesk, Chopin, Nexa, Matt, and Mont.
